ABOUT
Your voice is a vital part of you and how you communicate with the world around you.
I teach a set of skills to help you discover your unique singing voice, healthy and genuine speaking voice, and engaging public speaking style.
I teach one-on-one and workshops in-person in Victoria, B.C. and online.
I will show you how to work with your breath and body so you can:
-
Improve projection / volume and ease or eradicate strain.
-
Speak and sing with a more full and natural timbre and remove the airy sound from the voice.
-
Lessen or eradicate nerves, and challenge the feeling that your voice shouldn't "take up space" in the world.
-
Speak and sing for longer periods without fatigue and have enough air to finish the sentence or phrase.
-
Lessen or eradicate vocal fry.
Even better, singing with supportive technique is a great way to gently explore and exercise the heart and lungs while calming the nervous system, which improves your health. Learn more about singing for health and check out this: Globe and Mail article
There are many voice teachers out there, so why work with me?
While I use imagery and example as teaching tools, my main teaching tool is the biology of sound. What does that mean for you?
-
You don’t learn best by mimicry. You learn better by being given information, and then being supported to do and explore.
-
You’ve had lessons before, but didn’t feel you understood, didn’t enjoy yourself, or want to improve on what you know.
-
You need a teacher who considers the nervous system an integral part of your voice.
-
You learn better when the flow of information is not just from teacher to student, but both directions.
I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned with you!
